Skater Cross in Reseda Ca.
was the stomping grounds for a new growing trend of skateboarding in the San Fernando Valley.
Paul Guzman-Sanchez was there right at the beginning of that trend. Signing up at the new skate park located in Reseda Ca. in 1977 he would go on to spend the next three years of his life dedicated to skateboarding. While at the same time he and his brother were Chain Reaction performing as a locker group they took on this new trend with the same dedicated passion. Paul Guzman-Sanchez would go on to skate for the first ever Skater Cross team in 1978. By 78 there were a handful of skate parks that would pop up. As a team member of Skater Cross paul would go on to compete against classic skateboard parks such as Paramount, Upland, Big O, and Aloha Skate Park. This was an incredible time as a kid to be apart of this history that was just taking off. I also had the opportunity to skate for the Santa Barbara Skateboard Team in 78 of that year. My brother Thomas would perform with the Pepsi Skate Team at the Rose Bowl in 78 performing freestyle now known as street in a Locker Suit and would go on to skateboard freestyle on the Dance TV Show "KICKS" in 1978.
Paul has never lost the passion for skateboarding and still skates today. Keeping with the next generation his son "Ni" now is a full time skate boarder himself already having competed in two contest showing his love and passion for skateboarding
wants to go on to a pro status eventually but for now he is enjoying the learning process and going through the steps of learning.
